Eligibility for Office Space

All recognized Student Groups who are in good standing with the University are allowed to apply for office space in the Curry Student Center.

Application Process

To apply for office space in the Curry Student Center student groups must fill out the Application form. Once a student Group has filled out the application they may be asked to come before the space allocations subcommittee of the Student Center Governing Board for an interview. The Groups will be scored on the basis of their application and interview (if applicable). Groups with the highest scores will be given the offices. Groups will be notified as to whether or not they have received an office no later than one week past the date of the boards review of the allocations.

Terms of Occupancy

Student Groups who have received an office will be required to keep a minimum of two office hours per week. These student groups are also required to have a person in their office during Activities Periods in addition to their other office hours. Student groups must submit a weekly Office Hour Form to the Student Center Governing Board. Groups who do not fill out their office hour form will receive point reductions from their office allocation application if they choose to apply the following year. Groups must also keep their space clean, organized, and professional. Groups who do not follow the guidelines for maintaining office space, as set by the Student Center Governing Board, shall receive no more than three warnings to comply with these guidelines, within a time span of one month. If the group does not comply with the request of the Student Center Governing Board, the non-compliant student group shall loose access to their office for a period of one month. After returning to the space, if the group is non-compliant a second time during their tenure in the space, the organization will be removed from the space after the third warning. 8.3 Length of Occupancy All student groups receiving space will be allocated that space for a period of one year. Some organizations, to facilitate their productivity, will be on five year plans for occupying offices. These groups include: the Student Government Association, the Council for University Programs, The Northeastern News, the Graduate and Professional Student Association, NuBiLAGA, the Times New Roman, the Onyx informer, Spectrum Literary Magazine, the Northeastern Patriot, NUTV, WRBB, the Cauldron Yearbook, and Tastemakers. If the student center is to undergo a renovation, the actual space given to a group is subject to change, with the understanding that they will receive other space in the student center.

SGA will address issues no matter how large or small. If there is something that you see needing fixing, alert us on the I love Northeastern, but... page.
