Job Roles and Responsibilities Last Updated: September 2009
The Vice Chair will assist their respective committee Chair with all tasks pertaining to the job of the Chair as outlined by Section VI, Part C of the Constitution.
- In the case that his/her respective Chair resigns, is removed from, or abandons office, the appointed Vice-Chair will assume the responsibilities of his/her respective Chair of the Committee for a minimum interim time of four (4) academic weeks until the Vice-Chair assists the newly elected/assumed Vice President in learning all proceedings and responsibilities as Chair of the Committee.
- Aid the Chair with the administration of the Chair’s responsibilities;
- Possess liaison authority in the area for which he/she has been appointed;
- Maintain the rights and privileges afforded to a Senator; and
- Be excused from the Association’s required office hour;
In addition, the Vice Chair will be responsible to:
- Chair their respective committee(s) in the absence of the Chair; and
- Assisting with and/or heading special projects on an ad-hoc basis.
Further and more specifically, the Vice Chair will be responsible for the following:
In assisting with administrative tasks and preparing documents and communications, the Vice Chair will have the responsibility to:
- Prepare and/or review memorandums and other communications created by or sent to the committee;
- Assist in the review of and research for student concerns addressed to the committee; and
- Assist in administrative tasks pertaining to the committee.
The Vice Chair will serve at the will of his or her Chair. He or she will serve a term that ends at the conclusion of Summer I, and can be removed at will if he or she fails to perform the duties of the Vice Chair. Should he or she be removed prior to the end of the term, applications will re-open and another Senator may be appointed.
