The role of the Director of Community Initiatives will be to assist the Vice President for Student Affairs in addressing student concerns on issues relating to students residing off-campus and the neighborhoods in which Northeastern has an influence. To that end, the Director of Community Initiatives will have the responsibility to:
- Sit on the Student Affairs Committee;
- Oversee initiatives with a focus on students’ interaction with the community and resources provided to students residing in the community;
- Serve as a liaison to students living in the community;
- Maintain an open line of communication with the Office of Off-Campus Student Services, the Office of Government Relations and Community Affairs, and other University offices as necessary;
- Represent the Student Government Association and Northeastern undergraduate students at meetings, hearings, and public forums, as requested by the Association President;
- Provide pertinent information to the Director of Public Relations in order to communicate information on new projects and initiatives; and
- Research similar institutions’ off-campus living programs and policies.
The Director of Community Initiatives will serve a term that ends at the conclusion of Summer I, and can be removed if he or she fails to perform the duties of the Director of Community Initiatives. Should he or she be removed prior to the end of the term, applications will re-open and another Senator may be appointed.
