The role of the Director of Athletics Initiatives will be to assist the Vice President for Student Affairs in addressing concerns and overseeing projects related to the University’s athletic programs.  To that end, the Director of Athletics Initiatives will have the responsibility to:

• Sit on the Student Affairs Committee;
• Oversee initiatives with a focus on athletics, the Diehard Dog campaign, and their contribution to the overall campus community;
• Chair the Athletics subcommittee, which will meet no less than twice per month;
• Serve as a liaison to the varsity and club sports officers and participants;
• Maintain an open line of communication with the department of Athletics and other University offices as necessary;
• Provide pertinent information to the Director of Public Relations in order to communicate information on new projects and initiatives; and
• Research similar institutions’ athletics programs.

The Director of Athletics Initiatives will serve a term that ends at the conclusion of Summer I, and can be removed if he or she fails to perform the duties of the Director of Athletics Initiatives.  Should he or she be removed prior to the end of the term, applications will re-open and another Senator may be appointed.
