Amanda Sabia, (contact)Major: Political Science Leadership Experience:
Amanda is a junior Political Science major, Business minor from North Bellmore, Long Island, New York. Amanda has completed a co-op with Leuitenant Governor of Massachusetts, Tim Murray which has led to many exciting experiences in the field of politics. After graduation, Amanda plans to continue on to graduate school in Washington DC and eventually run for political office. Amanda has been a member of the Student Government Association since her freshman year. Over the past three years, she has served on the Academic Affairs, Student Services, Administration & Public Relations, Rules, Academic Technological Resources Ad Hoc, Undergraduate Research, Senate Nominations and Elections committees, as well as the Student Center Governing Board. She has served as the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs for a year and a half as well as the Director of Public relations for ’08-‘09. She has chaired the Academic Technological Resources Ad Hoc and has been the student representative at faculty senate for the majority of her time at Northeastern. In addition, Amanda has been a sister of Sigma Sigma Sigma national sorority since freshman year. As a sister, she has planned campus-wide philanthropic and community service events as well as various other things. In addition, she has previously been active in Panhellenic Council, LEGO, College Republicans and CASSAC. As the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Amanda works closely with all academia at Northeastern University and acts as a liaison between students and faculty/administration. Specific duties include being the student representative at faculty meetings, evaluating academic resources on campus, researching ways to lower academic costs, improving experiential education and advocating for the academic needs of all undergraduate students. |
